The soldier I chose was Robert Hale. He was born in London, England on June 11th 1893 and moved to Montreal, Canada in his late teens. He enlisted in February of 1915 at only 22 years old. Therefore, he was involved in a few different major battles such as Ypres, Passchendaele and Vimy Ridge. He was sent back home to Canada after being severely wounded three times. Robert Hale stood out to me because he wrote over 40 letters to his girlfriend, Alice, who he had intentions of marrying in 1920. I thought this was very sweet and I wanted to interpret some letters between the lovers as well.
